Liberal Hierarchy of Needs

By Ender | November 17, 2008

Years ago, when I was in grad school (MBA), it seemed that no matter what class I took, I was constantly subjected to the concept of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs.   I don’t know what this had to do with finance, but the professors always seemed to have this need to work it in to reinforce this undergrad concept.  Anyhow, I heard it so much, I thought if I heard it again, I would scream.

Well, when trying to analyze the liberal mind, I thought this might be an interesting model to use when describing the universe of liberals.  Contrary to popular belief, not all liberals think alike.  I’ve narrowed it down to four levels.  I’d be interested in knowing what you think.

For clarification, here’s a breakout of each level:

Top level. A few politicians.  Many political appointees.  Many judges.  Union management.  They realize the policies won’t do what they claim, they just want to maintain power so they can advance their own socialist agenda.  You see, they are the elite and everyone else is too stupid to understand, so they have to define their goals in ways the great unwashed can understand.

Second level from the top. Most politicians, nearly all liberal journalists, all old hippies, most college professors, most college students, union rank and file, those incapable of understanding basic economics or the human condition.

Third level from the top. No need to describe this bunch.  We all know someone like this.

Bottom level. The poor.  The needy.  Never finished high school.  Project dwellers.

Note how this fits Maslow’s model.  Those on the bottom are seeking food and shelter.  Those on the top have reached Nirvana.
