I’m so sorry that I have not been here for awhile.

I have just recently announced my own departure from the Republican Party. I am going to go with the Libertarian Party when possible or the most libertarian-leaning candidate, if not.

It’s a lazy approach–both mentally and pysically.

Mentally, because they do not have to analyze the conflict and determine who is right and who is wrong. (Or most right and most wrong.)

Physically, becasue it takes effort to resist aggression.

I will be sending my first one off to college in 3 1/2 years. Ooh! It’s scary.

I will try to steer him toward a Christian college, but the choice is really his.

Like your daughter he tends to be contrary, so who knows how he will turn out.

I found it hard myself to be in an environment where my views were simply held in disdain and dismissed. Although it tended to make me firmer in my beliefs, it certainly causes some people to “convert.”

I for one am sick of candidates simply because they are not as bad as the other guys. I realize that I am 95% in agreement with the Libertarian Party, so it seems more honest to go ahead and join it.

I think that the last eight years, as well as this year’s election, have convinced me that now is the time to switch.

I’m fed up with having a choice between socialism-lite and socialism-medium.

I can just hear it now if I approached the teachers in my daughters’ high school (yes, I have two teenage daughters) and asked them use Atlas Shrugged. They’d probably ask, “Who’s Ayn Rand?”

It is my opinion it ought to be required reading in high school with an entire class dedicated to discussing the issues in that book. I read it every year. I’m about to crack it open again. I also think college professors should have to write dissertations on how they can still be Marxists after reading the works of Rand…if they even have! Maybe that should be a requirement to teaching…read RAND!

The Democrats have been talking the economy down for the last 5 years. Charles Schumer, Chrm. of the Democrats’ Senate Reelection Committee was in front of every available camera and microphone bewailing the condition of the economy — at least until he went too far and caused a bank run. Obama was simply practicing Alinsky tactics — telling everyone, every day, how terrible their situation was –”rubbing raw the sores of discontent.”

I also think it is interesting that we were told we MUST have the $700 billion to buy toxic assets. Then, after they got the money approved, they changed their minds about what to do with it. Did they have a plan or not?

We don’t even know where the $700B is going yet and they’re talking about bailouts for the auto industry, what about the health care industry, the housing industry, the rest of the insurance industry in fairness since AIG is already in the government’s control, etc…

There is no end once the pandora box is open!

There are no politicians who will tell the truth and let people know that we didn’t get here overnight and it was the governments fault in large part for sticking their hands into the private sector to begin with and the best thing to do is let these companies work out their own problems and that the country will be stronger and better for it later. No, all these politicians have to charge in like the Lone Ranger and be the hero and all it is doing is prolonging the problem and opening the doors to more and more government intervention at all levels of our society.

This is so true! I heard a preacher one time say that the best lesson any person can learn is to not plant your bread and never eat your seed.

Such a simple truth, but it’s something our government seems to never practice, the simple truth.
